The Firehouse
Nestled in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, a historic former firehouse is home to Wakeman Coffee Roastery and Café. Construction on our building was completed in 1943, and named after William MacDonald, founder of the MacDonald Hose Company, the legendary group of volunteer firefighters and first responders who had served the local community since 1912.
Right up until we purchased the building in 2021, it housed fire engines and equipment, and until the organization was disbanded, was headquarters of the MacDonald Hose Company, a group that included an active Ladies Auxiliary who provided tireless support to firefighters and the local community by serving food at fires, organizing fundraising dinners, hosting clambakes, and holding charity raffles.
